Dormire a Nashville con 40 dollari

Stanza doppia all'Econolodge North, Nashville

Se proprio non potete fare a meno di capitare a Nashville, Tennessee, patria della musica country e del wiskey (così dicono), c'è un posto dove potete dormire con soli 40$ (stanza doppia). Si chiama Econolodge North ed è un motel molto carino all'americana (ogni stanza ha il suo accesso separato che dà all'esterno). Le stanze sono pulite e dentro ci trovate TUTTO: microonde, tv, frigo, asciugacapelli, condizionatore, shampo, balsamo... Perfino un dispenser con la crema per il corpo. E' inclusa la colazione (un buffet molto semplice ma completo, con caffè, succo, latte, merendine confezionate, pane da tostare, marmellate, burro...).
Per avere questo prezzo abbiamo prenotato attraverso Booking.com e lo stesso prezzo si trova sul sito dell'Econolodge. Non sappiamo dire se sia diverso andandoci di persona.
C'è un unico punto debole (ma c'è già una soluzione): l'hotel si trova in 110 Maplewood Trace, a sei miglia dal centro. Potete usare l'autobus n.23, che parte da Union Street (all'incrocio con la 5th), vicinissimo a Broadway (la via con tutti i locali con musica dal vivo). Il bus costa 1,60$ a viaggio e ferma a un centinaio di metri dal motel. L'ultima corsa per tornare la sera è alle 23.15.

Jewish restaurant in Manhattan: good and cheap

Cheap eating is no difficult: there are millions of McDonalds. But healthy and good eating with a little money is another thing, especially if you are in Manhattan.

But if you are in the Upper West Side, quite close to Central Park, you'll find the Hummus Place, a jewish family-run restaurant that offers vegetarian dishes at low prices.

We spent $60 in 5 people, all included, and it was a wonderful gastronomic experience.

In Manhattan you'll find four different Hummus restaurants:
305, Amsterdan Ave (Upper West Side);
2608, Broadway Ave (Upper West Side);
109, Mark's Place (East Village);
71, 7th Ave South (West Village).

We were only in the Amsterdam Ave one, on a Saturday night: the place is very small but the atmosphere is pleasant and very friendly. It's not possible to eating outdoors.

The best Knishes in Manhattan

Every time we think back to those knishes we feel like eating...

Made famous by their culinary talent and by numerous celebrities from the world of movies (Woody Allen with Whatever Works and Kubrick with Eyes wide shot are just examples) the Yonah Schimmel's Knishes Bakery really offers the delights of Jewish origin. 

Economically speaking, it isn't very cheap, but for $ 3.50 you'll get a wonderful gastronomical experience. The basis of this advice is still a monetary evaluation: it's better to invest those precious $ 3,50 in a Schimmel knish than in any chemical Starbucks' drink.

It's possible to eat knishes at the table or take it away, but if you have time you'd better to taste it in the between those walls.
