Keeping in Boston with little money

If you are in Boston, downtown. If you haven't a car. If you have little money in your pocket and every dollar is precious... Maybe you have a problem, because shopping in downtown Boston is very expensive. There are only small market or shops that sell at retail. It's enough to go out and buy bread, milk, water, eggs and you'll spend at least $ 10.
To avoid going on with Hamburger and Cheeseburger (McDonald and Burger King cost between $1 and  $2) or sliced bread (you find the cheapest one by Tedeschi for $ 1.79), you have two solutions.
The first is to make you a good walk from Shaw's, a fairly large supermarket, where you have more choice and you can save a few bucks. The one we know is in the Back Bay neighborhood, 53 Huntington Avenue, but there are at least two others.
The second solution is to go to the market of North End, near the Hard Rock Cafe (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday). You have to go in the evening, the closing time. At that time all sellers shouting like madmen and selling off everything they have on the bench: this is an opportunity to get your fill of fruits and vegetables practically free.
